Dear friend of the ministry,

Can you think of the one Precept study that was life-changing for you?  Which study opened your eyes to the benefits of Inductive Bible Study?  I am often asked what my favourite study is, and I usually respond with — “the one I am doing right now!”  I do have a favourite study, and I had the opportunity to lead that study in our intensive study program just a few weeks ago.

In November, thirty-three students connected to our online classroom, and we walked through the book of Job — forty-two chapters in six days!  It was intense few days, but the lessons we learned were life-changing.  I highly recommend you take the time to complete our Precept Upon Precept study on Job with your Bible study group or join us in March of 2022 when we hold the Job Study Program again.

As we studied Job, we were asked to consider what we were learning from Job about responding to others who are hurting.  As the study progressed, we learned from students in the classroom who have experienced some challenging trials.  Students shared the loss of loved ones, battles with cancer, family struggles, and much more in the “Zoom Room”.   As these students shared, we could compare their experiences with the way Job’s friends approached him in his suffering.

After class one day, I received an email from one of the students who shared how difficult it was to work through this discussion on suffering as they were still in a trial.

This student wrote, “I am finding, even just listening in, that the comments and material are bringing comfort and are a great reminder of God’s goodness.I have learned over the years to look at situations remembering God sees the whole picture. It may never come into focus for me, but just knowing He has the greater vision allows me to traverse some very rough terrain.”

Precept Bible studies are great tools to get people into God’s Word.  When we come together to discuss Scripture, we continue to learn from each other — an added blessing from the Lord.

Here is another example of how God was working through the study of Job.

One student wrote, “I will never forget the book of Job.  Having the context of chapters 1 & 2 for Job’s suffering will always remind me that there is always more going on than I can see.  I came away from our study with a greater appreciation of God’s sovereignty.  What I didn’t expect was that I would develop an even deeper trust in God and a greater sense of peace.  God’s Word changes people!”

God’s Word does change lives, and Precept Ministries Canada has excellent materials to engage people in relationship with God through the study of His Word.  The Inductive Study Method uses the Bible as the primary source of study.  We put God’s Word first and teach people how to study books like Job for the purpose of teaching us more about the character of God.  These truths will form and shape the way we live until Jesus returns or we go home.

You have the opportunity to transform lives through financial gifts to Precept.  These gifts will help to create new studies, train and encourage new leaders, and open doors to offer free Inductive Training Workshops across Canada.  Every gift received is used to further the spread of the Gospel throughout Canada.

Will you prayerfully seek the Lord about partnering with us in getting these tools into the hands of Canadians?  With your year-end donation, we want to offer you a gift.  Throughout the month of December, all who send a gift of $50 or more, will receive a special Scripture-themed stationery collection!

Thank you for partnering with us in this life-changing ministry.

Blessings,

Mark Sheldrake, National Director

P.S. This month, as a thank-you for gifts of $50 or more, we will send you a special, Scripture-themed stationery collection — which includes 5 cards, 3 stickers, a bookmark, and a limited-edition art print! Join us through giving today to get your bundle!
